Default New MMO idea!

As MMO's are slowly taking over games, please make this! I love CS but have/am moving away from it due to the communities I find elsewhere (such as GW). If you could bring the community to CS I think you would have a huge game that would add to the experience of an already brilliant game and attract so many more people..

----------------------------------
Game: CS:MMO (FPS)

Imagine a game which ran on the Halflife 2 engine or something similer with all the physics, and with look of CS. A game where you must choose a side to fight for from day one, say there are 4 armys in the beggining with defferent factions inside each army to control the different aspects of it. 3 main fighting armies and one that keeps the peace in a free city for all.

A game without levels, but ranks and experience values. When you start the game you choose an army to fight for, once you start you are the same as everyone else no extra fighting abilities or weapons. As you proceed through the game earning experience points your rank will also go up which will entitles you to use certain things and earn more.

There will be PvE missions to keep you busy throughout the game, but everything will revolve around PvP and the ongoing war. This should not only keep the life of the game ongoing but also merge the PvE-PvP styles. The map will need to be huge to accommadate the seperate armys and any vehicals which can cross terrain at speed.

Different armys could control different cities and have their own main base. At each city the army would employ a number of soilders to maintain security on the walls. (One source of income) The soilders with higher ranks may be able to take contol of sentry guns built by the force controling that city, only a limited number of these will be able to be made for balencing. Except in the main bases where it should be basicly imposible to take over.

The higher the rank the more income that person will command, until max level is reached (which should be very high) and then the person should have the choice to either switch army or become a vigalanty. Vigalanties have the ability to fight for any army at will, and be can also be shot down by any army.

There will need to a range of vehicals from tansport to personal buggys, I dont feel air would be a good option as it would be too easy to move around.

There would be a lots of things to do on the inside of cities, you would need armour suppliers, vehical merchants, mechanics, wepaon smiths, ammo etc. I think that player clothing still needs to be very customizable while still having a clear and obvious mark of the army they fight for.

There are so many more options that could work for this type of scenario. Player housing would also be a big bonus, to save space why not jus create a huge tower block or two with a garage underneith, that way everyone could hav the same view rather than drawing loads of different room models.

In games like Guild Wars with runners, the guys here would have a field day transporting VIP's to hard to get to cities. You could farm for money in taking out PvE hostiles for example to save up for that great buggy car with the anchor gun for quick stopping.

The only thing I cant see much of is an econemy, as all wepaons are up for sale from the begining. I think its important to stick to this rather than having 'uber' wepaons because this makes the game feel so much more unrealistic and gets boring after a while. This is why I feel CS has been a number one game for ages.

Anyways been thinking about this for some time an not sure wat to do with it.. all i can really do is post here =P

Feel free to post comments email to devs etc lol

Bur
You gota hope!

Well theorieticly that shouldnt happen to much as it should be a challenge to get the another base with all the security, and everyone would have eaccess to the same weapons, within reason as long as they could afford them..

lol but yeh prob would still happen to a degree..

It’s always nice to brainstorm about game ideas.

If you’re thinking about game design you probably should separate out the game design, from the artistic design from the technical development. Until you have the game design somewhat more fleshed-out it’s probably too early to start thinking about graphics engines unless you’re familiar with technical tweaks integral with gameplay you need to implement right off the bat.

That being said, here's a question.

You say there are several armies from which to choose. What if one starts to become more popular than the others? You know how these things work. A couple of reputable players are known to be in one army … pretty soon everyone wants to be in the same army. And the stronger/bigger the army becomes the less likely people will want to join the others.

Perhaps you might make some incentives to people in the smaller armies.

Or cap an army once it is too big and force people to join the others. Bonuses to each side wouldbe great to. To gain a income you should have bounty missions for groups of people to do, this discourages farming and encourages teamwork and community ties, or body gaurd jobs. I am really interested i n helping with this idea.

Sounds slightly like Planetside. That game was fun for a while, but I lost interest fairly quickly (meaning I played it at my freind's house and got bored with it in the time i was there).

I've always thought that this kind of game would be cool too. I guess the closest we can come to it are games like the Battlefield series, or Planetside. And in regards to the bounty stuff, you could set it up so that in PvP you would earn more points for offing a high ranked enemy.

ISHOOTYOU123:"***^>^<^<><***"
*Deus Ex Machina got headshot on ISHOOTYOU123*
